Baixa 22

Baixa 22 is a restaurant and a bar in Oporto downtown.

You must be wondering why this restaurant/bar is called Baixa 22 or Downtown 22... I can tell you the answer is really simple. The name Baixa 22 comes from the streetcar 22 that passes from that place and the luxurious Hotel Infante de Sagres, in the other side of the square. 

The old carpentry, where the bar is today, makes us relive memories through smells and the wooden visual. Sangria is the drink of the house, considered the best served sangria in the invicta, due to its preparation mode and the diversity of the sangrias served. 

The environment is informal, stripped and unpretentious but, above everything, honest with the space's spirit and original architecture, looking to be loyal to the city's own character. The space is small but with a lot of personality. The two narrow doors give access to a narrow long room with several tables and wooden chairs that show a robust and austere look, as the counter. The colors, as well as the illumination, are sober creating an atmosphere pretty welcoming. The different chandeleers with warm light, and the boards with suggestions in chalk behind the counter are some of the marks of this place, which has a good ambience where you can enjoy a nice night.

Deve estar a perguntar o porquê deste restaurante e bar se chamar Baixa 22... No entanto, a resposta é muito simples. O nome Baixa 22 deve-se ao elétrico 22, que passa entre este sítio e o luxuoso Hotel Infante de Sagres, do outro lado da praça. 

A antiga carpintaria, onde hoje se encontra o bar, faz reviver memórias através do cheiro e do visual da madeira. A sangria é a bebida da casa, considerada na zona como a melhor sangria servida na invicta, devido ao seu modo de preparação e à diversidade das sangrias servidas. 

O ambiente é informal, despojado e despretensioso mas, sobretudo, honesto com o espírito e a arquitetura original do espaço, procurando manter-se fiel ao carácter muito próprio da cidade. O espaço deste bar e restaurante é pequeno mas com muita personalidade. As duas estreitas portadas dão acesso a uma sala estreita e comprida, com diversas mesas e cadeiras em madeira que mostram um ar robusto e austero, tal como o balcão. As cores, bem como a iluminação, são sóbrias criando uma atmosfera bastante acolhedora. Os diferentes candeeiros com luz quente, e os quadros com sugestões escritas a giz atrás do balcão, são algumas das marcas deste local, que tem um bom ambiente, onde podemos desfrutar de uma bela noite.
