Praia dos Ingleses

In Portuguese and Spanish below

The restaurant Praia dos Ingleses is on Rua Coronel Raúl Peres, in Foz do Douro. This could be any restaurant, but its landscape makes it different from every other restaurant.

This place is situated in Praia dos Ingleses, the source of the name. There are plenty of specialties to taste, at lunch and at dinner, or even drink an afternoon cocktail with some friends.

But most of all there's the view that this awesome place grants its costumers with. Its visitors are able to enjoy a nice meal with a view above the ocean and the beach. The space inserts itself in the landscape and the luminosity is one of the restaurant's highlights.

We advise you to enjoy a quiet dinner in the esplanade watching the sunset ate the end of the day.

Verde Tília

 In Portuguese and Spanish below

João Paulo Jardim gave gis imprint to the decoration of Verde Tília, a modern tea room. This space was launched in 2010 in Alameda Eça de Queiroz, by theAntas area, escaping downtown's usual fuss.

The location combines with Verde Tília's spirit, which transmits peace and offers its costumers the oportunity to relax at the flavour of several teas. These are the main characters and they can be hot or cold, chosen from the french brand Le Palais de Thés.

Verde Tília is divided in two inner spaces and an outter esplanade. The décor, at the responsability of João Paulo Jardim, is another important aspect. On the inside, the bright colors relax us, colors like the light green from the walls or the tables' white. You can enjoy the exterior part all year because it is heated and you're able to request blankets in the cooler days.

Verde Tília is a space that lets us forget the city's bustle, therefore being ideal for a conversation among friends while drinking a nice infusion.

Plano B

In Portuguese and Spanish below

Launched in 2007, Plano B has won its place in the night of the invicta. Presenting a wide space, Plano B tries to boost our downtown, betting on a multi-tasked place.
It's placed in the Galerias de Paris, works as a coffee shop during the day and as a bar at night. The space is divided in two floors: in the ground floot there are several multi-tasked rooms, and in the first floor you can find the coffee place and an exhibition area.
Plano B hosts many exhibitions throughout the year, from architectural, plastic arts and design, to tertulias and workshops. Besides that, there are live music and movie nights.
The decoration is a bit retro and it has a dynamic environment. In the walls there are several mirrors with old frames. There are also multiple chandeliers that iluminate the rooms of Plano B. In the outside there is an esplanade which is perfect for hot summer nights. Plano B is one of the places to visit once you're in Oporto at night, for it's a dynamic space that already won the hearts of our town's people.

Rendez Vous

In Portuguese and Spanish below

You can find Rendez Vous in Rua Cândido dos Reis near the Galerias de Paris and it’s a club/bar. This bar is admittedly a rock space, with variatons of indie, garage and alternative.
Despite being small at first sight, in the floor below there’s a dance floor and a concert zone. In the main floor you find a small area where customers can sit down and enjoy a nice drink while listening to music.
The décor is one of the characteristic aspects of Rendez Vous. The walls transmit the identity of the bar, with guitars and posters of bands such as the Rolling Stones and Guns N’ Roses, for example. The mirror ball helps create ambiance. The lower part has a counter and an ideal wide space for dance nights.
Rendez Vous openly wants to remain at the forefront of rock music, making the connection between the classics and the current songs and bands. If you like to spend nights to the sound of rock we recommend a visit to this space.

Maus Hábitos

In Portuguese and Spanish below

In the fourth floor of an old building on Passos Manuel Street is Maus Hábitos, right in front of the Oporto's coliseum. Those who look at the building don't even think that inside there's a bar, gallery, a theatre and show room, a res and a café. All of this because Maus Hábitos is all about interdisciplinarity.
Maus Hábitos dedicates its space to the promotion of rising young artists. Is this space there ar exhibitions, concerts, theatres, trainings and workshops. The cultural education is one of the goals of this bar, which gave origin to the name, because the cultural intervention cannot be "well educated".
The bar is one of the most influent and known of the alternative circuit of the city, a place of obligatory passage in the night of Oporto. During the week it serves vegan lunches, and in the afternoons the cafeteria is open to the public.
The multifunctionality is one of the aspects that most characterize Maus Hábitos, which besides having a full agenda, offers its customers an amazing view over the city.

Sahara

In Portuguese and Spanish below

Sahara, a desert with a view over the Douro

It’s on the riverside, on Cais Estiva, to be more specific. A coffee shop that brings to Oporto a scent of Morocco, from the decoration to the teas and products, everything leads us to Sahara desert and the Moroccan haven.

The decoration makes us forget we’re in Oporto, the atmosphere takes us right to Morocco. The tables are low and colorful, there are colored carpets and cushions, and also forged iron dividers. Once you’re in you can smell incense. The décor is one of the highlights of the Sahara for the trip to Morocco it allows us to take.

This café/bar serves mint tea along with other aphrodisiac flavors, and you can smoke all kinds of chichi. On Fridays and Saturdays the belly dancing shows cheer the night for the ones who visit Sahara.

If you’re traveling through Oporto and you want to experiment new places stop by Sahara and get yourself lost in the Moroccan environment.

Café Velasquez

Open since 1995 and recently remodeled, retrieving its beauty. Placed on the old Velasquez’ square, now called Dr. Francisco Sá Carneiro’s square, it ended up adopting the name of the famous Spanish painter.

Café Velasquez, part of the affective and cultural part of Oporto, is known as a generation meeting point.

Architect José Saldenha, the responsible for the restructuring of several spaces, tried to inculcate a new image without sallow the habits that a coffee shop with old traditions has.

The idea became reality, being able to turn a uncharacterized space in a combination of light, color and textures. In a preexisting space characterized by irregular geometry, the emotions of its environment cause multiple perspectives.

The café has a tobacco shop, and its esplanade is very busy during the summer. Given the location of the Estádio do Dragão, on game days the café is invaded by sports lovers before and after the match.

Address: Praça do Dr. Francisco Sá Carneiro, 301, 4200-314 Porto
