Praia dos Ingleses

The restaurant Praia dos Ingleses is on Rua Coronel Raúl Peres, in Foz do Douro. This could be any restaurant, but its landscape makes it different from every other restaurant.

This place is situated in Praia dos Ingleses, the source of the name. There are plenty of specialties to taste, at lunch and at dinner, or even drink an afternoon cocktail with some friends.

But most of all there's the view that this awesome place grants its costumers with. Its visitors are able to enjoy a nice meal with a view above the ocean and the beach. The space inserts itself in the landscape and the luminosity is one of the restaurant's highlights. 

We advise you to enjoy a quiet dinner in the esplanade watching the sunset ate the end of the day.

Caçula

Caçula, in Praça Carlos Alberto can almost be mixed up with the history of Downtown Oporto. This restaurant was launched in 2005 and along with this change came a new concept.

Integrated in a four story building, Caçula has won a new image, marked by modernity, sophistication and bold design. The groundfloor room works everyday with menus at lunch and manu cards at dinner. The upper floors are normally used for group events.

Everyday there are three different menus: meat, fish and vegetarian. This restaurant puts inovation right next to the traditional dishes. The pizzas and the tapas are two of the reference points of Caçula that make the costumers come go back for more.

Stop by Caçula for lunch while in downtown Oporto, gourmet food at low cost pricesm with the average cost of 15€ per meal.

Padaria Ribeiro

Padaria Ribeiro has already a century full of history and its popularity hasn't gone lost along the years. Placed in Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, this small bakery is one of those you must try.

The pastries and cakes are its main attraction. Once you're in, you have the chance to taste homemade sweets that just got out of the oven and have extreme quality. At any time of the day you can buy freshly made warm bread.

Lanches are a house specialty, with ham, mortadella and cheese involved in a fluffy and soft mass, which are constantly being taken out of the oven and delighting the costumers.

If you're ever in Downtown Oporto, please don't forget to stop by Padaria Ribeiro, its high quality pastries will make you want to come back.




Verde Tília

João Paulo Jardim gave gis imprint to the decoration of Verde Tília, a modern tea room. This space was launched in 2010 in Alameda Eça de Queiroz, by theAntas area, escaping downtown's usual fuss.

The location combines with Verde Tília's spirit, which transmits peace and offers its costumers the oportunity to relax at the flavour of several teas. These are the main characters and they can be hot or cold, chosen from the french brand Le Palais de Thés.

Verde Tília is divided in two inner spaces and an outter esplanade. The décor, at the responsability of João Paulo Jardim, is another important aspect. On the inside, the bright colors relax us, colors like the light green from the walls or the tables' white. You can enjoy the exterior part all year because it is heated and you're able to request blankets in the cooler days.

Verde Tília is a space that lets us forget the city's bustle, therefore being ideal for a conversation among friends while drinking a nice infusion.

Queima das Fitas

Queima das Fitas is a portuguese college tradition. Spread across the country, students from every university organize a week full of tradition and lots of party. Oporto isn't an exception!

If you're visiting our city this week make sure you pass by the queimódromo, on Parque da Cidade in Matosinhos. Despite being away from the centre, students and visitors of the event have at their disposal free buses from the Trindade's metro station and from the Hospital de São João. If you don't wanna get into a big fuss you can always go by subway.

This year, the Oporto's Queima has its schedule full of national and international arrtists, such as Gogol Bordello, SuperNada, Bloc Party and Quim Barreiros.

Inside the queimódromo there are lots of stalls that belong to the various faculties of Oporto's Academy and even some from fast food restaurants like Psicológico, famous for its hotdogs and burguers.

If you're in Oporto, don't lose the oportunity to spend the night in the company of you college students, we can asure you a rocking party and  a lot of fun for eight straight days.

Chocolataria das Flores

The Flower's Street (Rua das Flores) has a brand new space where the art of producing cocoa becomes irresistible to those who look for it. The Chocolataria das Flores promises to sweeten the mouths of the portuguese with its chocolate treats and handmade cookies. With a foot on the vintage and the other in the contemporary, the latest little corner right next to the cafeteria service and the tea room, where it stands out the attention given to details about the decoration as well as the service.

Chocolate with Port wine is one of the moreish combinations you can find in Chocolataria das Flores. In a cared and welcoming space with a contemporary décor where the white tones prevail along with some black details, tey make chocolate and craft biscuits.

Without preservatives nor dyes, the products reflect the flavour of the cocoa allied to the flavour of innovation. Therefore, the house specialties make several propositions stuffed with Port wine.

Besides being a store, Chocolataria das Flores is also a cafeteria, with homemade cakes, brownies, muffins, toasted bread of Mafra, together with some tea or hot cocoa, as well as the light meals based on quiches, meatloaf, pastries, hotdogs, among others.

Will was launched last year and it can be found in Praça Carlos Alberto. This is a restaurant that mixes the portuguese cuisine with sushi, a typically japanese dish. This dish is available to every taste, even to those who like to leave the restaurant well pleased. On wednesdays there's the "Sushi Festival" (Festival do Sushi) at lunch, for 18€, and dinner for 23€.

But the portuguese food also has its spotlight: steak, octopus in the oven, codfish and Costelão are some of the portuguese treats you can eat there. 

Even so, Will isn't just a restaurant, by night it works as a bar. This space has a diversified musical schedule that includes live concerts and guest dj's. Besides that, fridays and saturdays are marked by 80's and 90's music.

When it comes to the decoration, Will mixes the classic with modern details. There are several rooms that allow private dinners, perfect for business dinners, groups or private parties.

Púcaros Bar

Placed in Rua de Miragaia, this bar is perfect for those who like to sit and enjoy a nice drink while chatting, calmly, among friends. With a rustic and very welcoming decoration, this place becomes pretty comfortable and familiar to those who visit it. Púcaros stands out also for its great cultural agenda: wednesday nights are dedicated to poetry, thursday nights are turned to anecdotes and humour, and occasionally the bar hosts photography and paiting exhibitions.

Plano B

Launched in 2007, Plano B has won its place in the night of the invicta. Presenting a wide space, Plano B tries to boost our downtown, betting on a multi-tasked place.
It's placed in the Galerias de Paris, works as a coffee shop during the day and as a bar at night. The space is divided in two floors: in the ground floot there are several multi-tasked rooms, and in the first floor you can find the coffee place and an exhibition area.
Plano B hosts many exhibitions throughout the year, from architectural, plastic arts and design, to tertulias and workshops. Besides that, there are live music and movie nights.
The decoration is a bit retro and it has a dynamic environment. In the walls there are several mirrors with old frames. There are also multiple chandeliers that iluminate the rooms of Plano B. In the outside there is an esplanade which is perfect for hot summer nights. Plano B is one of the places to visit once you're in Oporto at night, for it's a dynamic space that already won the hearts of our town's people.
